Grand Canyon University Newman Center

Brothers,

In the Phoenix metro area, Brother Knights are being called to help the Grand Canyon University Catholic Newman Center.  Fr. Bradley LePage, a Brother Knight in Council 11536, and I have been working for months at the details of our involvement with this opportunity to evangelize our Catholic faith to young men and women on this Christian campus.  The photos below are of Brother Chris Santiago, Brother Ron Bacher, and State Warden Luigi Baratta working at the Newman Center.

We need you help! Can you help? We need tradesmen, able bodied men and women, and anyone who can help clean, do building improvements, paint, etc. We are especially in need of painters! Brother Danny Hayward, of Council 3855, will lead the Knights of Columbus efforts in this important project.  The center is located right across the street from Grand Canyon University. Also, if you are student GCU or know any Catholic gentleman who attends this school, please contact State Warden Luigi Baratta at luigi.baratta@cox.net.  We are working to organize a College Knights of Columbus Council in this Newman Center.

SOAZ Coronado Area Tennis Competition

The Coronado Area Special Olympics held their Tennis Competition on Saturday, Marth 19, 2016, at the Tucson Racquet & Fitness Club (4001 N. Country Club Road, Tucson, AZ).

We had six (6) Volunteers from St. Pius X Council (10762) and I was there taking pictures.
Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos was also there volunteering as a tennis ball retriever and as MC during the Awards Ceremony.
The event consisted of Singles Match Play and Individual Skills Competition and was a big success.

Once again a BIG Thank You goes out to SK Fred Falgiano from St Pius X Council 10762.

2016 Special Olympics State Basketball and Cheerleading Competition - March 11 and 12th

Good Morning Worthy State Officers, Directors, Chairmen, and Brothers,

      This past Friday and Saturday (03/11/16 and 03/12/16) the Arizona State Special Olympics held their State Basketball and Cheerleading Competition in Tucson.
St Pius X Council (10762) had Seven (7) Volunteers on Friday (3/11/16)  and one (1) Volunteer of Saturday (3/12/16) at the Sporting Chance Basketball Facility.
I Volunteered on Saturday at the Cheerleading Competition held at the University of Arizona Recreation Center.
Overall this was a very successful event.

SK Fred Falgiano, from St Pius X Council did and outstanding job recruiting and coordinating the volunteers from his council.
We would not have been so successful if it were not for Brother Fred.
