Arizona State Council Knights of Columbus 4-D Ultrasound Initiative

Brothers and Friends of the Culture of Life,

This fraternal year (2015-2016) marks a very critical one in our attempt to save the lives of the “un-born”. The Culture of Life initiative for the Knights of Columbus Arizona State Council has very special meaning, particularly to our State Officers and Bishops of the Dioceses serving Arizona.

The Knights of Columbus Supreme Council recently published a very special video on the 4-D Ultrasound Initiative. You can view it by clicking on the link below.
Celebrating a Legacy of Life: KofC Ultrasound Initiative
Published on Sep 9, 2015
The Knights of Columbus Ultrasound Initiative has reached a record 600 (and counting!) donated ultrasound machines to pregnancy care-centers since the program began in 2009.

As a result, our goal is to raise funds and obtain matching funds from Supreme, to enable Fatima Women’s Center to acquire a 4D Ultra-Sound. This State wide initiative is intended to allow ALL Councils, ALL Assemblies, and all of the friends of the Culture of Life to participate as a “family saving lives”.

We are asking that each Council and Assembly donate $500 to this worthy cause. Please know that this can count towards one of the Culture of Life service activities as you strive to achieve your Star Council Award. We would ask that you reach out to any corporate donors you may have associations with to assist, as well.

We are also asking individual Brother Knights, family members, and friends of the Culture of Life to make a donation to this worthy cause. Please consider giving whatever your heart is telling you to give. Whether it is $500.00 or $25.00; every dollar will help save a life of an unborn child.

We are asking that all donations, regardless of amount and or payee, be made payable to MBC Charity Foundation, Inc. and mailed to:

                MBC Charity Foundation, Inc.
                Attn: Henry A. Armstrong
                1556 East Jensen St.
Mesa, AZ 85203

Donations can also be accepted by credit card at www.mbccf.org and click on “DONATE”. Then, click on the folder named “Donations – Pro-Life”.

This entity is a 501(c)3 and can send a tax deduction letter to all who donate. It is important to identify the Council/Assembly number on your check(s) from whom the donations are coming from.

This program started on July 11, 2015 and runs through to the end of the calendar year 2015. We would, however, like to have donations made as soon as feasible.

Again, please know that this very important contribution effort will provide us the ability to obtain matching funds from the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council, and will most importantly provide a way to save the lives of un-born children whose lives might otherwise be aborted.

Please feel free to contact SK Ron Cacini, the Arizona State Council’s chairman for the 4-D Ultrasound Initiative, with any questions or concerns you may have on this campaign. roncacini@gmail.com or Cell: (480) 220-2795

ST JOSEPH ASSEMBLY DONATES WHEELCHAIRS TO DAV

Once again St Joseph Assembly 2126, home of FDM Mike Kingman, now VSM, and FDM Armand Brooks, State Veteran Support Chairman, supports our disabled veterans with the donation of two electric wheelchairs to the DAV chapter #20 in Glendale. The two wheelchairs were donated to St Helen’s parish by a nursing home, which cared for paraplegic patients and is now closed.

Due to the generous donation of a truck with a back lift gate by Penske Corporation the assembly was able to transport the wheelchairs easily to the DAV Chapter home in Glendale on Friday, September 4th. Commander Arthur Sumler accepted the donation from Faithful Navigator Tony Balestrieri in a brief ceremony. The photos below represent that ceremony. From left to right: (front) DAV Commander Arthur Sumler and FN Balestrieri; (rear) SK Bob Kefurt and FDM Brooks.  Not in the photos are SK Len Rheaume, DD#12, and Adjutant Roger D Bosley.  Our profound thanks to Richard J Nylander, Penske Phoenix, District Rental Manager

for making this happen.

Veterans Mass - Nov 8

Brothers,
The Diocese's 5th Annual Veterans Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Avondale on the 8th of November, with Bishop Olmsted presiding.  We always have had great participation from the K of C as the honor guard at the Mass for the Bishop and the Flags of the Services.  We start Mass at 10:45 but will form up about 10 a.m.  There will be a room for the Knights to change.  The Local Chapter will assist as always.   Would like you to put the word out and issue a call for participation.  Last year we had about 40-50 Knights and would like to see the same again in the West Valley.

Two flyers are attached, one for the Mass and another for a Veterans Retreat which will be given on Saturday, the 7th, the day before the Mass.  The Retreat is a great opportunity for Veterans to participate with other veterans in a retreat aimed at fostering healing.

Again, please get the word out to your chapters.
Deacon John Scott, Diocese of Phoenix

State Deputy Message - September 2015

September 1, 2015

Brothers,

Mother Teresa said, “Faith in action is love, and love in action is service.” She further said, “Our work, to be fruitful and to be all for God, and beautiful, has to be built on faith---faith in Christ who has said, "I was hungry, I was naked, I was sick, and I was homeless and you did that to Me." On these words of His all our work is based.... Faith to be true has to be a giving love. Love and faith go together. They complete each other.” Service presupposed a willingness to give of oneself, of one's time, effort, and material means. It expressed the love of the giver and met a need of the receiver. It was the normal way of letting the other know that he or she is loved, wanted, and cared for. (Love: A Fruit Always in Season; by Mother Teresa)

Brothers, to choose Christ and to love, we must serve. This is part of how we find ourselves ready for our final judgment day. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, we have many ways to serve. Here are just a few ways to serve your family, Church, and community:

The Arizona Knights of Columbus 2015-2016 fraternal year’s theme is “Find Us Ready Lord”. This year’s theme deals with the Destiny of Man and how we prepare ourselves for our final reward. We can prepare with Service, Prayer, Charity, Unity, Fraternity, & Patriotism.  We need to build our Order stronger so together we can work to combat the evil lurking in our world today. Please pray the Prayer of St. Michael the Archangel at the end of every meeting and gathering. Satan is destroying our society and Church while working on every family, man, woman, and child to not follow the teachings of our Catholic Church. We must keep our councils and assemblies strong to fight this battle and defend everything we know as good. Please pray that St. Michael will protect us and our Lord will guide us so we will remain victorious and continue to build our Church with service and faith.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

Vivat Jesus!
